About the Artist

Profile

I am a mixed media landscape artist and I use print, painting and drawing in my work.

Currently I am using the printing technique of monotype as I find this gives a spontaneity and expression to my images, simplifying details towards abstraction. I also use these monotypes as the foundation for mixed media paintings.

Sculptural shapes and stories both real and imagined within a given landscape are major points of interest but essentially I am looking for beauty through environmental adversity.

Often I visit a location repeatedly, walking, sketching and mapping. This preparation enables me to make a work on inter-related themes and although these series can be viewed separately in the end I see all my work as connected thereby creating a contemporary saga or Coronach.

I moved from Cambridgeshire, England to Dunbar, Scotland two years ago where I have my own studio. I am a member of Edinburgh Printmakers.
