Artists Statement
My work conveys the effects that light and the changing seasons have on the architecture of Edinburgh. A city that I lived in for many years. I love to depict the grandeur and atmosphere of Edinburgh in both the Old and New Town.
I’m also fascinated by how nature works alongside this architecture from the lush colours of summer to the skeletal trees of a pale snowy winter’s day.
Having been brought up by the sea I also love to paint the shoreline of East Lothian. I like to portray the feelings of calmness and serenity I feel when I am by the Sea. The sea being a constant secure backdrop in my life from childhood to present day.
I also enjoy painting the colourful joyous harbours of Fife. Pittenweem being a particular favourite. I hope to evoke happy memories of holidays.
