About the Artist

Alison graduated from Leith School of Art, Edinburgh after completing the Post Graduate Painting Course tutored by Paul Martin.

In 2008-2009 Alison was one of two Artists in Residence at Newhailes House, National Trust for Scotland. She paints in oils and mixed media and would describe her work as semi-abstract.

Alison is a Professional Member of Visual Arts Scotland and her paintings are in collections in both the UK and abroad.

Alison’s work is very varied, and as well as landscape and still life, she continues her recent theme of allotments, gardens, vegetation and growing.  This current theme comes from her passionate enjoyment of flowers, growing vegetables and gardening.  Painting these subjects gives her the endless opportunity to explore joyous colours and to study the transient nature of plants in both cultivated and uncultivated places.
