Additional Information:
"Remains was inspired by 3 sculpted heads which were salvaged by architect Edwin Johnston in the 1960s. They are from three prominent Edinburgh buildings which he tried, but failed, to save from demolition. From left to right - The Life Association of Scotland (Princes St), Mary Erskine's (Queen St), Rockville ( Merchiston). As the heads are, as far as I know, all that remain of these buildings I have used pastel to recreate them in full colour and as realistically as possible. I've used pencil only when depicting the lost buildings to try to give them a ghostly quality." Alan Connell
