Elizabeth Sorrell RWS ARCA (1916-1991)

A painter, designer and teacher, Sorrell (maiden name Tanner) was born at New Skelton-in-Cleveland, Yorkshire and studied at Eastbourne School of Art and at the Royal College of Art. She went on to teach in several art colleges and worked as a designer of wallpapers and fabrics, designing for the British Industries Fair and Ideal Home Exhibitions. Married to Alan Sorrell. She exhibited at the New English Art Club and Royal Academy. She is represented in the collection of the Tate Gallery.
