Alexander Garden Sinclair ARSA (1859-1930)

Born in 1859 as the youngest son of a Free Church minister in Kenmore, Perthshire. Studied at Aberdeen University but left to pursue art in Edinburgh. Painter in oil and watercolour of landscape, genre and portraits. Primarily an oil painter. Founding member of Society of Eight alongside PW Adam, David Alison, FCB Cadell, James Cadenhead, Sir John Lavery, Harrington Mann and James Paterson. Exhibited RSA (74), RSW (2), GI (5), AAS & Lillie Gallery (2). Represented in NGS & Kirkcaldy AG.
