Michel Rulliere

Having taken early retirement, I was able to follow and explore a long-held attraction to all things wooden, which became a reality following a chance meeting with Arran Ross and his sculpture - and a subsequent course at Edinburgh School of Arts. I work exclusively from discarded wood which I pick up whenever the opportunity presents itself. When I start on a new piece, I rarely know what the end-product will be. I try to let the wood guide me and work with the general shape, grain, pattern and cracks which occur naturally. As a result, each piece is open to personal interpretation by the viewer and utterly unique.
