Keith McIntyre

Born Edinburgh 1959. Studied DJCA Dundee 1978-82 followed by a post graduate year. After winning the Carnegie Award 1982 spent most of 1983 studying papermaking in Barcelona. Returning to Scotland and settling in Moffat he became fascinated by the customs of rural southern Scotland. Preoccupied with the sexual stereotyping of male dominance as well as the more general theme of fertility. Received the Gillies Award 1983. From 1984-93 lectured part time at Glasgow School of Art and worked from Wasps Studios, East Campbell Street, Glasgow. In 1987 he exhibited at The Vigorous Imagination at SNGMA again exploring themes of male fertility and daring. Since 1993 he has lived and worked in Tyneside. Currently Director of Graduate Studio Northumbria University. Represented in SNGMA, Aberdeen AG, Dundee AG, Cleveland AG.
